Abstract: The research of primary productivity and periphytic algal communities in floating net cage (FNC), Rawa Pening Lake was held on November 2013 – Januari 2014. The aim of this research was to know the primary productivity of periphytic algal in floating net cage reviewed from chlorophyl –a, species richness, diversity index, and density at various depths. Research station located in three different floating cages on the inside area and the outside area with different depth. Object glasses were used as artificial substrates placed on surface, 0.5 meters deep, and 1 meter deep. Observations were made on the 14th day. Chlorophyll were measured using Schrowbel, 1972 method. Physical and chemical parameters that become supporters variables among others are temperature, pH, brightness, DO (Dissolve oxigen), ammonia, nitrate and phosphate and biological index views such as density, diversity index, and species richness. The results of chlorophyll-a values indicated a difference between the inner and outer cage. Similarly, the depth was effecting the chlorophyll a values between cages and depth but showed no interaction. Chlorophyll a values on the inside to FNC on 3 depth level was ranged between 0.15 - 0.24 mg/m2 while the average chlorophyll a per sample area on the outside of the FNC ranged between 0.04 - 0.14 mg/m2. In addition to the value of chlorophyll a, species richness index was also investigated in the range 13-26 species, diversity index ranged from 1.30 to 1.69 which included into medium category, and the density of algal periphyton 62-205 ind/mm2.
