Abstract: This paper describes research findings in a village of Kamoro tribe located in Mimika, namely Hiripau. There are three things found in this study. First, people in Hiripau give a little place to education in their lives. Second, the lack of community participation in education in Hiripau is caused by a variety of conditions, namely the cultural, social influence, family, politics of curriculum and lack of cooperation among stakeholders. These diverse conditions, with each portions, has caused both children (especially) and older people in Kamoro generally and in Hiripau specifically have a little interest in education. The lack of interest has finally caused education in Hiripau is stuck. It even don?t possess a power to giving birth new generations who have qualified human resources. Third, in the middle of this alarming reality of education, society is expecting a new educational model that is contextual, not only with regard to the current situation but especially fit to the culture and the reality of their lives. Therefore, vocational education and nature school are educational model that are expected to be applied in the context of society lives. In carrying out this study, researcher used a qualitative approach with descriptive research method. With this method, researcher tried to describe and interpret the reality that is lived and practiced by rural communities inHiripau. Data collection is done with following techniques: in-depth interview, observation and document study.
