Title: Peningkatan Pemahaman Konsep tentang Planet Bumi dengan Media Visual Melalui Guided Discovery dalam Pembelajaran IPA Siswa Kelas V SD Negei Kerten 2 Tahun Pelajaran 2010/2011

Abstract: The purposes of this research is to increase the understanding concept of earth planet in study of scientific leaning with visual media by Guided discovery. The dependent variable in this classroom action research is to increase the understanding concept toward the earth planet matter. While, the action variable in this research is visual media. The place of this research at SDN Kerten 2. The classroom action research axesuted by two cycles. This subjects are the fifth grade students. The source data in this research from result of interview, result of science leaning, syllabus, and execution plan of study. The techniques of collecting data are observation data activities of students and teacher. The document of teaching leaning process and result testing of learning. The data validity applies trianggulation data and trianggulation method. The technique analysis use interactive analysis model. Based on results of the two cycles in the classroom action research these are applying with the visual media by guided discovery in scientific learning process at the earth planet matter. It can be seen from percentage of evaluation in scientific teaching process among fifth grade student in SDN Kerten 2 from pre action, by first cycle and second cycle: In pre action cycle, students who were obtaining minimum grade of 65 were 5 students or 27, 78% of 18 students; in first cycle, students with grade 65 were 9 students (50% of 18 students); and in second cycle, students with grade 65 increased to 14 students (83,33% of 18 students). By pre action cycle to first cycle, the students leaning achievement experienced an increase of 22,22%, and from first cycle to second cycle, the leaning achievement increase was 33,33%. Based on the whole can be recommended that scientific teaching learning process by visual media can be increase the understanding concept of earth planet in fifth grade students SDN 2 Sidomulyo in the second semester of 2010
