Abstract: | This paper maps the images of hero in How to Train Your Dragon and Spider-Man 1. These two films were selected as objects of this study due to the contrasting physical appearance of the heroes they portray. Borrowing structuralism, in particular binary oppositions, to scrutinize the films, the analysis began with the differences between the hero and ordinary people before discussing the distinguished images of hero in both movies. The findings revealed that the dominating issue or characteristics of the era when the works were first published determined the portrayal of a hero in each. |
