Abstract: Kata hotel memang tak asing lagi. Hampir disetiap kota ada yang namanya hotel. Sebagian masyarakat berasumsi bahwa hotel adalah bangunan megah dan mahal, padahal tidak semua demikian. Selain menyediakan jasa inap, hotel juga menyediakan makanan dan minuman bagi tamu yang datang serta mempunyai fasilitas jasa lainnya dimana semua fasilitasnya juga diperuntukkan bagi masyarakat umum. Dari waktu ke waktu setiap hotel selalu bersaing dalam mendapatkan konsumen baik dalam kota maupun luar kota. Hal yang dapat membantu dalam meningkatkan pendapatan hotel ialah dengan melakukan promosi, media yang digunakan dalam melakukan promosi pun bermacam-macam seperti surat kabar, majalah cetak, radio, web site, dan sosial media, video. Dari hasil riset penulis di beberapa hotel di kota Salatiga, media promosi yang telah dilakukan oleh beberapa hotel tersebut telah menggunakan media dari cetak, radio, internet, dan video. Serta dari hasil riset tersebut terdapat satu hotel berjenis resort yaitu hotel Kayu Arum Resort yang sejak awal dibangun hingga saat ini belum pernah sama sekali melakukan media promosi dengan menggunakan media video. Oleh sebab itu dari hasil riset yang telah dilakukan, penulis ingin membantu pihak hotel Kayu Arum Resort dalam melakukan promosi dengan media video. Karena video mempunyai keunggulan dibandingkan media promosi lainnya, melalui video pula promosi dapat ditampilkan secara audio dan visual. Dimana banyak masyarakat yang akan lebih puas serta lebih jelas dalam mendapatkan informasinya.
Nowadays, “hotel” is familiar for us. Hotels are available almost in all of cities. Some people assume that hotels is only luxurious and expensive places to serve people who need to stay, but actually it is not merely like that. Besides providing rooms to stay, many hotels also provide its culinary, its beverages, and also give other services, such as providing a hall room for ceremonial event, a meeting room for companies’ meeting, and a swimming pool for guests of the hotels. From time to time, hotels also compete in gaining loyal clients from both local and abroad. One of the common ways to enhance hotels’ income is by giving promotion through some media, such as newspaper, magazine, radio, website, internet, social media, and video. The writer had observed some hotels in Salatiga, they are Laras Asri Resort & Spa, Grand Wahid, Le Bringin, Agrowisata Salib Putih, Osamaliki and Kayu Arum Resort, especially to understand what kind of promotion media the hotels used. Kayu Arum Resort is kind of a resort hotel in Salatiga that interests the writer. Based on the observation, the writer found that Kayu Arum Resort never use video as their promotion media. Therefore, from the research and observation, the writer is willing to promote Kayu Arum Resort using a video as their promotion media, because a video has many benefits more than the other promotion media. One of the benefits is that by using a video, the promotion can be presented in both audio and visual, which is it can be very effective and interesting way in delivering promotional messages to the audiences. Moreover, hopefully the audience or the society who will watch the video can receive complete information with more satisfied and delighted.
