Analisa Pengembangan Hubungan Sosial Kaum Gay pada Kelompok Gay di Balijoe: Teori Ilmu Komunikasi Penetrasi Sosial pada Hubungan Gay

Abstract

Bali memiliki jumlah penduduk 4.109.000 ditahun 2014, diantaranya terdapat wisatawan dari berbagai wilayah di Indonesia dan juga luar negeri. Karena banyaknya jumlah pengunjung tersebut membuat Bali tidak pernah sepi dari tujuan pariwisata. Berbagai pengunjung tersebut beberapa diantaranya memiliki orientasi seksual sebagai Homoseksual (Gay,Lesbi,Transgender). Banyak diantara mereka yang berkunjung ke berbagai tempat hiburan. khususnya bar. Kaum gay akan cenderung datang ke bar khusus gay agar mereka dapat berinteraksi dengan sesama gay. Dari interaksi tersebut akan terjadi proses yang berulang untuk membentuk sebuah relasi atau hubungan yang lebih intim di dalamnya. Proses membangun hubungan disebut dengan Penetrasi Sosial. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi kepada kaum gay di pulau Bali. Penelitian etnografi merupakan penelitian dengan teknik observasi dan wawancara yang mendalam dengan narasumber, sehingga dari setiap informan yang ditemui dapat menentukan benang merah untuk menarik sebuah kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah dengan penetrasi sosial tersebut mereka akan melewati fase orientasi, exploratory affective stage, affective stage, stable stage, dan depenetration. Namun, tidak semua fase tersebut terlewati dan tidak berurutan prosesnya. Keputusan untuk melanjutkan atau tidak melanjutkan hubungan bagi kaum gay bergantung pada komunikasi antara kedua belah pihak dalam membangun hubungan tersebut. Keputusan tersebut berkembang dalam fase one night stand, friend with benefit, atau long term relation (pacaran).

Bali has 4.109.000 population in the year 2014. From that number of population, there are some domestic visitors that come from various regions of Indonesia, and also visitors from abroad. Because of that large number of visitors, Bali turns into a city that never be deserted from the tourism destination. Some of those various visitors are homosexuals (gay, lesbian, and transgender). Many of them tend to visit various entertainment spots, especially bar. Gay people tend to visit only gay bars so that they can interact with other gays. From that interaction, a continuous process will occur and then form an intimate relation. The process of creating the relationship is called Social Penetration. This study used qualitative method with ethnographic approach to gay people in Bali. Ethnographic study is a study using observation and in depth-interview with the subjects, therefore the subjects can give the silver lining to the findings of the study. The result of the study is that, social penetration that occurred is passing through orientation stage, exploratory affective stage, affective stage, stable stage, and de-penetration stage. But not all the phase is being passed through and the process is not consecutive. The decision either to continue or not to be in the relationship for gay people depends on the two-way communication in order to develop the relationship. That decision developed in one night stand, friend with benefit, or long term relation phases.
