Abstract: Tourism development in Rote Ndao, East Nusa Tenggara does not go as fast as the development in other areas. Therefore, it is important to employ an appropriate marketing communication to accelarate tourism development in Rote Ndao. Marketing communication with the basis on local knowledge of the community in Rote Ndao is one strategy to help tourism development in this area. With marketing communication strategy, public relations officers and promotion tools may deliver the message about the local genius of the community in Rote Ndao. Meanwhile, sales promotion, direct marketing, personal selling and customer service should also employ local genius of the community in Rote Ndao as the approach
