Representasi Stereotip Etnis Ambon dalam Film Red Cobex

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai representasi stereotip tokoh Ambon dalam film Red Cobex karya Upi Avianto. Stereotip merupakan salah satu bentuk prasangka antar etnik/ras. Film Red Cobex merupakan sebuah film bergenre komedi yang bercerita tentang sekumpulan ibu-ibu dari berbagai macam suku bersatu untuk membantu kaum yang lemah, dan memberantas kemaksiatan. Penulis memilih tokoh Ambon karena tokoh Ambon tersebut cukup mendominasi dalam film tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah penulis ingin melihat dan meneliti bagaimana karakter tokoh Ambon digambarkan dalam film tersebut, apakah tokoh Ambon dalam film tersebut digambarkan sesuai dengan stereotip yang ada di masyarakat atau berbeda. Penulis menggunakan semiotika John Fiske dengan unit analisa kode televisi John fiske, penulis menganalisanya kedalam 3 level yakni level realitas, level representasi, dan level ideologi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa stereotip masih melekat di dalam kehidupan masyarakat, hal tersebut tampak digambarkan secara verbal maupun nonverbal dalam film tersebut, tetapi di sisi lain sineas juga menggambarkan tokoh Ambon dengan karakter yang berbeda dengan stereotip yang ada di masyarakat.

This research disscus about the representation of Ambonese stereotipe in Red Cobex film, that was directed by Upi Avianto. Stereotipe is one of the prejudice of races. Red Cobex film is the comedy about the life’s group of mothers that comes from different cultures, together to help the weak and eradicate immorality. The author choose Ambonese figure, because they are pretty (quite) dominant in the film. The goal of this research is that the author would like to see and disscus how the Ambonese figure was discribed in the film, whether this figure is appropriate with the stereotipe in society or have the differences. The author uses semiotika John Fiske by television code unit analysis. The author analizing into three levels, that is reality level, representation level, and ideologi level. The value of this research indicate that the stereotype is still ingrained in society’s live. It looks from the verbal and non verbal description in the film, but on the other hand, film maker also describing Ambonese figure with different character with the stereotype that exist in the society.
