Abstract: | Men work for money and women take care of the family at home. Most people do not agree with this statement, especially women. Nowadays many women are allowed to work off home and have a career. However, there are also many women who still hold on to this old norm and some doctrines especially religious doctrines such as Islam and Christian. In Islam is written the best place for women is the home (QS. Al Ahzab: 33) and in Christian, men can grow and be free and be the head of the family, while women according to the "nature" are still not free and fewer to become an independent (Becher, 2001, p. 293). Moreover, the society still looks bad and discriminate against women, who are busier working than building a family. It has been proven by Gallup.com’s survey that there are still many parents who reject their daughter’s desire that does not want to get married because they want to focus on their career. The anxieties of women against the society’s perspective about the unmarried woman make them unable to sustain their desire even though they have the right to choose. Therefore, the project is dedicated to women especially teenagers in Indonesia who are confused in addressing public perception. Using radical feminism and psychoanalytic theory, the story revolves a career woman who is a workaholic to fulfill her family but her mother requests her to get married and resign from the job. She insisted on keeping the job and because of it, she disputes with her mother and her friend. This project aims to enlighten teenagers of what and how to respond to the demands of this society by being responsible and consistent in taking freedom of choice and responsibility, especially when deciding to enter the world of work. In order to make the readers are more easily to build intimacy and feel the emotion of the main character and understand the implicit moral message in the story of this project uses first person point of view. The storyline of the project also uses transition time, flashback appears to provide more information to the readers about the interconnection events in the story and effective way to transfer the story messages. |
