Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengelolaan pendidikan karakter di SMP Negeri 2 Demak, menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subyek penelitian adalah kepala sekolah, guru, staf administrasi, dan peserta didik. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, sajian data dan kesimpulan. Keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi. Hasilnya bahwa: pengelolaan pendidikan karakter di SMP Negeri 2 Demak lengkap, menyeluruh dan melibatkan kerjasama seluruh warga sekolah, yaitu meliputi: 1) perencanaan yang mengacu pada visi misi sekolah; 2) pelaksanaan terintegrasi kedalam semua mata pelajaran, pembinaan kesiswaan, manajemen sekolah yang berbasis IT dengan sarana prasarana yang memadai; dan 3) evaluasi secara rutin, untuk mata pelajaran meliputi kognitif, afektif dan psikomotor, untuk manajemen sekolah melalui kegiatan surveillance. Evaluasi secara keseluruhan dapat dilihat dari hasil yang telah dicapai, yaitu prestasi peserta didik semakin meningkat, menjadi sekolah sehat dan sekolah Adiwiyata tingkat propinsi.
This study aimed to describe the management of character education in SMP Negeri 2 Demak, using qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Subjects were principals, teachers, administrative staff, and students. Data analysis was performed with data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The validity of the data used triangulation techniques. The results are that: the management of character education in SMP Negeri 2 Demak complete, thorough and involve the entire school community partnership, which includes: 1) planning refers to the vision and mission of the school; 2) implementing integrated into all subjects, development of student, IT-based school management and supported by adequate infrastructure; and 3) evaluation on a regular basis, for subjects include cognitive, affective and psychomotor, while integrated with the school management, through the surveillance. Overall evaluation can be seen from the results that have been achieved, namely the achievement of learners is increasing, becoming healthy schools and Adiwiyata schools provincial level.
