Abstract: Extensive reading is reading in large quantities of texts for general understanding. According to Day and Bamford (2002), extensive reading has ten basic principles to foster learner autonomy. This research reported on interview conducted with 10 students of English Language Education Program (ELEP) of Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW). As a consequence of this research focuses on students’ perspective, the researcher only examine eight (principles one until eight) out of 10 principles of extensive reading. The participants are 2017 students who passed extensive reading in their first semester of 2017/2018. The aim of this study is to examine whether Day and Bamford’s ten basic principles of extensive reading (2002) was implemented by ELEP students of UKSW. The finding shows that five out of the eight principles of extensive reading were implemented by the ELEP of UKSW student; there were the purpose is usually related to pleasure, reading is its own reward, reading is individual and silent, learners choose what they want to read, and learners read as much as possible.
