Abstract: | Krom dalam bentuk ion Cr6+ (kromat) merupakan salah satu ion yang bersifat toksik dan tidak bersifat essensial bagi tumbuhan. Penyerapan Cr6+ dalam bentuk kromat dapat melalui mekanisme penyerapan ion sulfat. Selain ion sulfat dilaporkan ion selenat dan molibdat juga memiliki kemiripan struktur kimia dengan ion kromat. Rumput teksi (Cyperus rotundus) merupakan salah satu agen tumbuhan yang memiliki kemampuan dalam akumulasi logam berat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan ion sulfat, molibdat dan selenat terhadap akumulasi Cr6+ dan pertumbuhan rumput teki. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 4 perlakuan yaitu Cr6+ 5 mg/L + ion sulfat 617,43 mg/L, Cr6+ 5 mg/L + ion molibdat 0,025 mg/L, Cr6+ 5 mg/L+ selenat 5 mg/L, sebagai kontrol berupa Cr6+. Perlakuan masing - masing ion dengan cara dilarutkan dalam medium Hoagland. Setiap perlakuan dengan 5 kali ulangan. Rumput teki ditumbuhkan secara hidroponik dengan media penyokong berupa pasir steril dan diberi media perlakuan, selama 30 hari dan disiram dengan medium Hoagland setiap hari. Parameter pengamatan yang diukur meliputi panjang daun, berat kering (akar, umbi, pucuk), konsentrasi Cr6+ pada tanaman dan pada media. Data penelitian dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan program SAS versi 9.1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ion sulfat, molibdat dan selenat mempengaruhi secara signifikan akumulasi Cr6+ dan pertumbuhan rumput teki. Penambahan ion sulfat, selenat, molibdat dalam media tumbuh menurunkan secara nyata penyerapan Cr6+ pada rumput teki dibandingkan kontrol. Penghambatan penyerapan Cr6+ pada rumput teki paling besar dijumpai pada penambaha n ion molibdat, hal ini ditunjukkan dengan paling rendahnya akumulasi Cr6+ dalam tumbuhan yaitu sebesar 0,457 mg/g BK, sedangkan pada perlakuan kontrol, ion sulfat dan ion selenat berturut-turut sebesar 1,172 mg/g BK, 0,778 mg/g BK, dan 0,834 mg/g BK. Besarnya akumulasi Cr6+ di dalam organ rumput teki baik pada kontrol maupun perlakuan menunjukkan urutan akar>umbi>daun. Chromium which is in the form of Cr6+ ions (chromate) is one of toxic and inessential ions for plants. Cr6+ absorption in chromate form, could be through by ion sulfate absorption mechanism." In addition to sulfate ions, selenat and molybdate ions also have the resemblance of chemical structure with chromate ions. Cyperus rotundus is one kind of plant which has ability in accumulating heavy metal. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of sulfate, molybdate and selenat ions increment through Cr6+ accumulation and growth of Cyperus rotundus. The study was experimentally conducted by using a Randomize Block Design ( RBD ) with four treatments, Cr6 + 5 mg/L + ion sulfate 617.43 mg/L, Cr6 + 5 mg/L + ion molybdate 0.025 mg/L, Cr6 + 5 mg/L + selenat 5 mg/L , as a control of Cr6 +. The treatment of each ion were dissolved in Hoagland medium. Each treatment is done repeatedly 5 times. Sedges were grown hydroponically with the sand sterile as the contributor for the media and media were given treatment for 30 days and every day they were being watered with Hoagland medium. Observation parameter which is measured are leaves, dry weight (roots, tubers, buds), the concentration of Cr6+ in plants and in the media. Then, the data were analyzed statistically using SAS program version 9.1, and as the results it shows that sulfate ions, molybdate and selenat addition significantly affects to the accumulation of Cr6+ and the growth of Cyperus rotundus. Also the addition of sulfate ions, selenat, molybdate in planting media significantly decreases the absorption of Cr6+ by sedges compared to controls. Absorption of Cr6+ by sedges most common in ion addition molybdate, as shown by the lack of accumulation of Cr6+ in plants that is equal to 0.457 mg/g DW, whereas in the control, treatment of sulfate ions and ion selenat successively equal to 1,172 mg/g DW, 0.778 mg/g DW, and 0.834 mg/g DW. The amount of accumulation of Cr6 + in the grass organs of both control and treatment shows the order of root> tuber> leaf. |
