Abstract: The role of the assessment in the education field is important to know the students’ progress toward the uderstanding of teaching materials. This study is about junior high school English teachers’ challenges in implementing of the assessment techniques system of 2013 curriculum in Salatiga. This study answers the research question: “What are the challenges of junior high school English teachers in implementing the assessment techniques system in 2013 curriculum?” The participants of the study are ten junior high school English teachers in Salatiga. The collected data are used to get further information about the challenges of the assessment system in 2013 curriculum. The findings show that the English teachers have many challenges in implementing the assessment techniques of 2013 curriculum that includes time management, students’ English ability and observation technique.
