Abstract

Nowadays, the ability to speak in many foreign languages is very important. Every person has been expected to master, at least one foreign language besides its native language. In Indonesia, many people are required to speak a foreign language such as English, Mandarin, and Japanese. One of the languages that is quite popular is Japanese Language. Many students and workers start learning Japanese language because this language is easy to learn and also it is important for the people who want to get job in a foreign company. Word translator application inside a cellular phone is the most easy facility to learn the Japanese language, with this application students will have no dificulty in finding the meanings of the words. Word translator application is an application that contains word list including its meaning, so the user can find the meaning of the word more quickly. There is one technology that can be used to create word translator application in the cellular phone, it is J2ME.
