Peranan Metode Penyuluhan (Bimtek) Terhadap Peningkatan Pengetahuan Penyuluh di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta

Abstract

The effectiveness of agricultural instructing is influenced by the accuracy of the selection of instructing methods used. The use of effective methods can increase the target group knowledge about the disseminated information. The purpose of this study was to analyze the benefits of the Technical Guidance (Bimtek) method to increase the knowledge of instructors and researchers. This study utilizes structured questionnaires filled by the respondents as its method. Participants were agriculture extension workers and researchers who served in the Yogyakarta Institute of Assesment Agriculture Technology (IAAT/BPTP Yogyakarta). The study was conducted in March 2018 during the mplementation of Technical Guidance (Bimtek) on Water Harvest Infrastructure located in the BPTP Yogyakarta hall. The Bimtek was carried out throuhgh face to face interaction (presentation and discussion/question and answer), demonstrations, and field visits. The data collected included the characteristics of the Bimtek participants, and the level of knowledge before and after the implementation of the Bimtek. Data analysis utilized the beforeafter approach, and different tests using the Wilcoxon test with α = 0.001. The Z test results (0.001) indicate that there is a change in the increase in participants’ knowledge significantly (real difference) regarding water harvesting infrastructure technology before and after following Bimtek. This means that the Bimtek Method is proved to be beneficial to improve understanding and knowledge of the participants to water harvest infrastructure technology. In conclusion, Bimtek can be chosen as a method of increasing new knowledge.
