Abstract: Mysticism might be just considered as an illusion for some people, but it does exist in our life. Basically, mysticism in general was aimed as a medium to communicate with God, but in today's reality it is growing differently from the main purpose and has become a dark mysticism. This study attempts to find out the mindset of ED students about mysticism; does the knowledge about western culture they got in ED influence their insight about mysticism. The study used the movie “Amity Ville Horror” as the representative of western mysticism and three students each from 2006 and 2010 as the participants. The different entering years here aimed to represent the longer and shorter exposure to western culture especially through some academic experiences though it is not the only factor that might influence one's mindsets. The analysis of the data shows that most of the subjects believe in mysticism and the Javanese concept of mysticism is not influenced by the knowledge they got in ED.
