Abstract: | This study reveals out certain correlation of eight types of multiple intelligences and English score of 101 people of 10th grade students at SMA Kristen Satya Wacana by using Multiple Intelligence Inventory Chislett version (2006) adapted from Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Inventory model (1983). The participants of this study were the number of students who attended and voluntary cooperated with the researcher on working in a classical administration of the research instrument through questionnaires which had been modified into recent research. Data statistic tool SPSS for Windows Version 16 was used to facilitate the data processing. The analysis of multiple intelligences that exists was based on Gardner's (1998) who proposed theory that people have eight types of intelligences but in different level of strength, skill and limitation. ESL teachers can identify this through activities that they frequently have in their classes and categorized them to identify which one helps students in developing the types of intelligences. The findings of this study show that there was significant positive correlation between linguistic intelligence with English scores. An interesting finding shows that there was also negative correlation between bodily-kinesthetic intelligence and English scores. The following results were positive correlation but not significant between the English scores and logicalmathematical, spatial, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic intelligence. The study result is similar to Kim's (2009) research which revealed out that there is significant positive correlation between linguistic intelligence and the English score. |
