Aplikasi Donor Darah Berbasis Android

Abstract

Finding blood donor in an emergency situation and in the case of blood stock unavailability are PMI is time consuming. Now a days, finding donor can be done by sending broadcast messages on social media. Unfortunately, broadcast messages sometimes fail to reach people who willing to donate their blood. Information Technology especially mobile application development has a major impact on various aspects of life, such as online transportation and shopping. Android-based mobile applications are the most widely used by mobile device users in the world. Therefore, an Android-based mobile application system for finding blood donors can help someone to get a blood donor and to donate his blood. In this application, users are classified into 4 different groups: acceptors, donors, PMI and administrator. The acceptor has a role to find any available donor by searching on a geographical locations provided or just simply send a request. A donor user whose compatible blood type will receive a notification and then can respond to the request. PMI has the role to verify donor users and conducting health checks of the donors. Meanwhile, the administrator plays an important role to register PMI officers and to suspend user if any user is indicated to be carrying out an activity against the rule. This application runs on Android version 4.1 (Jelly Bean) up to version 8.0 (Oreo), but Android version 8.0 has a different method in displaying notifications. This application uses Firebase notification, unfortunately it is unable to handle notifications when the application is closed while it is still active in the background.
