Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction of Teacher Senior High School in Kupang

Abstract

The gap is whether there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and its three aspects with job satisfaction among techers in high school in Kupang City. This study examines relationship between emotional intelligence, and three aspect of emotional intelligence with job satisfaction of teachers in senior high school in Kupang. Sample in this study consisted of 106 teachers. Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS, 2002) is used to assess the emotional intelligence, and Overall Job Satisfaction was developed by Dhespande (1996). The instrument validity was measured by corrected item total correlation while reliability was measured using Cronbach’s alpha technique. The instrument used in this research is valid and reliable. Analysis technique that being used is analysis correlation. The results explain that there is significant correlation between emotional intelligence, and three aspects of emotional intelligence with job satisfaction (p<0,05), with valuing and expression aspects in moderate range, the use of emotion aspect in moderate range and emotional regulation aspect in low range.it is suggested for the teachers to maximise their emotional intelligence develpoment, increase their understanding towards their emotion, and increase their managed emotion.
