Abstract: The study aims to investigate the teachers’ attempt to deal with challenges during the Jigsaw implementation on Junior high school level. The data were collected through interviews and observations from one class of the public Junior high school in Getasan, Semarang. There was a teacher who had been observed and interviewed during the Jigsaw implementation. To answer the research question, the students and teacher were observed and interviewed regarding the use of Jigsaw reading technique; use of technique the challenge and the attempt to overcome the challenge during the Jigsaw. A thematic analysis was conducted to find out the challenges that the students and the teacher encountered during the Jigsaw implementation and how they dealt with those challenges. The results of this study shows that the teacher could solve the challenges that occurred during the Jigsaw implementation. Overall, the Jigsaw has fulfilled the teacher’s function as the communication controller, motivator, and presenter.
