Abstract: | Although many scholars have addressed various research of Language Awareness (LA), it seems that researches about LA in the context of workers are limited. Thus, this study is expected to be able to address research of LA in the context of workers. It is undoubtedly true that English has spread rapidly to economics and business sectors. Therefore to keep up with the rapid growth of English, workers who worked in economics and business sectors like bank workers need to be aware of English. The aim of this study was to investigate customer service staff at Bank BNI branch Salatiga awareness of English language. Based on the purpose, content analysis was used and individual interviews to 7 Customer Service (CS) staff of Bank BNI branch Salatiga was conducted. The findings showed that (1) the participants had the awareness of English function as a communication tool, (2) the participants’ affective characteristics influenced their use of English and (3) there were some CS works related to English. |
