The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of hardiness and self-esteem simultaneously on successful aging of elderly people who live alone. The method of data collection uses three psychological scales, namely Successful Aging Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and Short Hardiness Scale, which after testing each scale consists of 10 items and meets reliable requirements. Participant taking used a purposive sampling technique with characteristics, namely the elderly who lived alone (at least with their husbands, did not live together with children / family), aged 60 years and over were willing to be participant, communicative, and domiciled in 6 (six) cities in Central Java (Salatiga, Semarang, Surakarta, Magelang, Pekalongan, Tegal). Data analysis for hypothesis testing using multiple regression tests and previously tested the assumption first. The results showed that the value of Fcount (54,830)> Ftable (2,670) and a significance value of 0,000 (p < 0,05) means that there is an influence of hardiness and self-esteem simultaneously on successful aging in the elderly who live alone. So, the research hypothesis is declared accepted. The conclusion of this study is that the high and low hardiness and self-esteem can be used in predicting the high and low success of aging in the elderly who live alone with an effective contribution of 33,7%.
