Abstract: One and two-dimensional motions are fundamental concept of physics. Therefore experiments of them are important to build students' experiences. Camera and computer technology take important role in recent learning and teaching. Digital camera can be used to record the motion of an object in the form of video and images. This paper reports the development of a two-dimensional air bench tool designed for one and two-dimensional motions’ experiments with small friction. Friction is minimized by using wind gusts through small holes made in all parts of the runway. Digital camera and tracker are set as the motion detector. Digital camera records the motion of objects on a platform in the form of video with certain frame-rate. Tracker analyzes video that contains information about object motion. They have been tested on one-dimensional motion in a sliding object on an inclined plane and two-dimensional motion in the collision of two objects. The position against time graph of the one-dimensional motion can be displayed, the instantaneous and the average velocity and acceleration can be accurately determined. The position-time graph of a collision of two objects can also be displayed for each object before and after the collision. The velocity vector can be determined accurately so that the law of conservation of momentum and kinetic energy can be verified. Thus, the two-dimensional air bench based on digital camera and tracker can be used as physics learning media that is able to display various kinematics graphs so that information about motion is more complete.
