Abstract: | Gunung Ijen terkenal dengan fenomena keindahan alamnya, sehingga menjadi objek wisata domestik hingga mancanegara. Selain itu, gunung Ijen memiliki kandungan belerang yang cukup tinggi. Hasil alam tersebut menjadi sumber mata pencaharian bagi sebagian individu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebermaknaan hidup dalam menjalani pekerjaan yang berisiko tinggi dan berbahaya pada pekerja tambang batu belerang kawah Ijen. Kriteria partisipan penelitian yaitu pekerja tambang batu belerang kawah Ijen yang menjalani pekerjaan setidaknya 10 tahun. Penelitian melibatkan tiga partisipan berjenis kelamin laki-laki dan memiliki rentang usia 40-65 tahun. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif studi kasus dengan penggalian data menggunakan teknik observasi dan wawancara. Analisis data dilakukan dengan membuat deskripsi yang menggambarkan setting penelitian dan membahas elemen pengalaman-pengalaman partisipan. Proses hasil penelitian ditinjau berdasarkan teori kebermaknaan hidup Viktor E. Frankl yang terdapat nilai kerja atau kreatif, nilai eksperiensial atau penghayatan dan nilai sikap. Selain itu, peneliti menemukan faktor pendidikan yang sudah ditempuh mempengaruhi keputusan untuk memanfaatkan kesempatan bekerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan proses pencapaian kebermaknaan hidup partisipan pekerja tambang batu belerang kawah Ijen dapat muncul melalui pekerjaan, meskipun berisiko tinggi dan berbahaya. Mount Ijen is famous for it’s natural beauty phenomenon, making it a domestic tourist and foreign tourist attraction. In addition, Mount Ijen has quite high sulfur content. The natural products are a source of livelihood for some individuals. This study aims to determine the meaning of life in undergoing high-risk and dangerous work on the sulfur stone mine workers at the Ijen crater. Criteria for study participants were sulfur stone mining workers at the Ijen crater who had worked for at least 10 years. This study involved three participants who were male and had an age range of 40-65 years. This research is a qualitative case study research by extracting data using observation and interview techniques. Data analysis was carried out by making descriptions that described the research settings and discussed elements of the participant experiences. The process of research results is reviewed based on Viktor E. Frankl theory of the meaning of life which has work or creative value, experiential or appreciation value and attitude value. In addition, researchers found that the educational factor that have been taken influence the decision to take advantage of work opportunities. The results showed the process achieving meaning of life for the participants sulfur mine worker at the Ijen crater can emerge through work, despite the high-risk and danger. |
