Annotated Translation of Simile Within Everything’s Eventual Collection by Stephen King

Abstract

Simile is a kind of figurative language that is commonly used in a language and usually rely upon its culture to be understandable. However, translating a simile from one language into another language can be tricky. This is problematic since the difference of culture from one language to another can make a simile becomes different if it is rendered into other language since it might have a culture difference. By using the strategies proposed by Peter Newmark (1988) and Larson (1998), the researcher attempt to translate a simile from one language into another language with different culture. Through the method of annotated translation, the researcher finds it easier to translate a simile.
