Abstract: | This study attempts to find out whether or not one of the advantages of extensive reading in tenns of vocabulary is true in an Indonesian context, especially in the Faculty of Language and Literature of Satya Wacana Christian University. It is intended to see whether there was any improvement in students' vocabulary knowledge while they were taking extensive reading course. This study was conducted in the 200712008 academic year. It used a quantitative research procedure and the participants of the study were 21, 19 females and 2 males. The data for the study was collected from one of the extensive reading classes, extensive reading 1A The analysis of the data shows that statistically there was not any vocabulary improvement made by the students when taking extensive reading for the period of two months. In this study, the value of the sig. (2-tailed) is not significant and can be disregarded. |
