Title: Students’ Perceptions Toward Teachers’ Strategies to Motivate Them in Grammar Class

Abstract: Teachers’ role as a motivator is important since it can affect the students’ motivation in the learning process. The difficulty with grammar may be caused by the lack of motivation of the learners themselves. As a result, English teachers’ role as a motivator is critical. Here, the teacher is expected to be a person who is able to motivate their students in the teaching and learning process. In this study, the researcher sought students' perceptions of the way their teachers motivated them in Grammar classes. This study focuses on finding out FLA students' perceptions about the way their teachers motivated them in their grammar learning. The participants of this study were 40 students of all batches from the English department from UKSW who had taken Grammar classes. The data were collected through a questionnaire which were then analyzed through a descriptive quantitative method. The findings of this study are presented into four subheadings of Students' Perception about the importance of motivation given by Their Teachers in Grammar Class, Students’ Perception of Their Teachers’ Motivational Strategies, Students’ Perception about the Effect of Their Teachers’ Motivational Strategies, and Students’ Feedback on how Teachers can Improve Their Motivational Strategies. The findings of this study show that the students view motivational strategies done by their teachers as important and that appropriate motivational strategies should be given to the students to build and maintain the students’ interest in grammar learning.
