Abstract: This research is an overview of how women are viewed with one eye by society because of the nature that is pinned to them. Women are often seen as people who need to abide by all applicable social rules. Sometimes the rules that are given also make women feel restricted from expressing and pursuing their dreams. This research takes a smaller scope by looking at how women’s lives in Solo, Central Java during the 1950 - 1965 period. This study provides an overview of the lives of women in Solo along with the problems and dreams that crossed their minds when they were young such as become a teacher. Unfortunately, they could not achieve their dream because of the gender inequality that was still lingering at that time. This study also takes a feminist theory and uses the concept of cultural feminism theory which is the basis for this research. The question that arises is how gender inequality occurs in the family sphere affects women. The author will also use the perspective of cultural feminism theory by Linda Alcoff (1988) regarding how women are determined by nature and seen as objects by men. The research will include data collection through interviews, Library research, and historical research. The output of this research project is a short story for the final project of the proposal.
