Title: An Analysis of Metaphor and Simile Translation Found in Dialogues in The Indonesian Translation of The Fault in Our Stars

Abstract: When it comes to figurative language, there must be something related to literary works because these two things are inseparable and that is interesting to know how the translator can translate it to TL naturally because translating figurative language is challenging. This study will discuss about translating metaphor and simile which focusing on dialogues of all characters in The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and attempts to find out what strategies are used to translate it. The data were collected by listing all the metaphors and simile from the source text and the translated version. Based on the founding data in the novel, there are 15 data for metaphor, 17 data for simile, and 32 data in total. The data were analyzed by using metaphor and/or simile translation strategies which are proposed by Larson (1984:279). Out of five strategies, there are only four strategies used by the translator to translate the metaphors, while to translate simile out of 3, all the three data are use only one strategy which is the fourth point of Larson’s strategy.
