dc.description.abstract | Double consciousness is divided into a cultural self and another cultural self from a dominant place. Double consciousness could be happened anywhere and anytime, such as in the workplace, in the university, in the house's area. This thesis is contained a short story of the double cultural self in Joko Tingkir's Village, Central Java. Annisa as a main female character, who tried to separate her dual consciousness from Javanese culture and Islamic culture. Because, she wouldn’t want to choose the tragic way. Double consciousness Postcolonialism is the theory that the author would use and apply it in this story. The story has the same condition, the same ideology as the aim of writing this story which is giving the readers a wide perspective of how double-consciousness could work. To strengthen the data of the story, the author would use John’s experience of double consciousness toward his tribe, his religion, and his study in a story entitled A Meeting in the Dark by Ngigu wa Thiong'o and an interview with 6 interviewees that were related to the study. So that hope it would touch and enlightenment the readers' mind about the tradition of every culture, the language, the cultural meaning and couldn't leave the real tradition completely to the modernism. | en_US |
