Abstract: This study is analysing translating comedy translation in literary works. In this case is in a teen-comedy novel; Diary of A Wimpy Kid. It is an interesting topic to talk about since there are not a lot of people that talk about comedy, and I have seen many people are struggling in understanding some foreign jokes in movies, books, or shows. When the jokes came, they did not laugh and turned out to be confused about what the jokes really meant instead. The jokes came out not so accurate and made the jokes are not as funny as they are in the SL and or some of the messages are not being well-delivered to the readers. It means that a comedy can be successfully transmitted when the meaning of the words used are also understood before by the target audience. Descriptive qualitative method is used in this study in the process of finding datas from the novel for later to be analysed. The research findings show that the translator used 4 (four) types of translation techniques. They are: (1) equivalence & reformulation, (2) literal translation, (3) Adaptation, (4) borrowing. And also (1) mixed techniques; (2) modulation-equivalence and (3) literal-adaptation.
