Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMP kelas 8 dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel. Aspek berpikir kritis mengacu pada teori Facione yang mencakup interpretasi, analisis, kesimpulam, evaluasi, penjelasan dan pengaturan diri. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 3 siswa SMP Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga yang masing–masing siswa dipilih secara purposive pada tingkat kemampuan tinggi, sedang, rendah. Instrumen utama adalah peneliti itu sendiri dan instrument bantu berupa tes tertulis materi SPLDV, pedoman wawancara dan dokumen sekolah. Analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pada siswa yang memiliki tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis rendah hanya mampu menyelesaikan dua tahapan Fionce, sedangkan siswa yang memiliki tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis tingkat sedang mampu menyelesaikan 5 tahapan, dan siswa yang memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis tingkat sedang mampu menyelesaikan 5 tahapan dan siswa dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis tingkat tinggi mampu memenuhi 6 tahapan Fionce
This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of 8th grade junior high school students on the subject matter of the Two Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV). Aspects of critical thinking refers to Facione which includes interpretation, analysis, conclusions, evaluation, explanation and self-regulation. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects consisted of 3 students of Satya Wacana Christian Middle School Salatiga, each student was selected purposively at high, medium, and low ability levels. The main instrument is the researcher and the auxiliary instruments are written test of SPLDV material, interview guide and school documents. Data analysis was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students who had low levels of critical thinking skills were only able to complete two stages of Facione’s critical thinking skills, while students who had moderate levels of critical thinking skills were able to complete 5 stages, and students who had moderate levels of critical thinking skills were able to complete 5 stages and students with high-level critical thinking skills are able to fulfill the 6 stages of Facione
