Abstract: | Biji timun suri berpotensi sebagai sumber minyak nabati namun, umumnya biji hanya dibuang atau dijadikan benih tanam. Suri cucumber seeds have the potential as a source ofvegetable oil, however, seeds are generally only discarded or used as planting seeds. This study aims to obtain the optimal yield of cucumber seed oil in terms of the extraction method and type of solvent, and determine the physicochemical properties of cucumber seed oil. The method used is continuous extraction and maceration, while the solvents used are hexane and petroleum ether. The results showed that the optimum yield of cucumber seed oil was obtained from a continuous extraction method using hexane solvent, which was 24,256 ± 0.17%. The oil obtained has a yellow odor that is typical of cucumber seeds, with an oil content of 0.12%; oil density 0.82 g / mL; acid number 5.547 mg NaOH / g oil; saponification 224,063 mg KOH / g of oil; and peroxide number 0.5077 meq O2 / g oil. |
