Abstract: Obat tradisional masih menjadi pilihan masyarakat untuk mengobati sakit sejak dulu.
Traditional medicine is still the people's choice to treat pain since the first. The people of Sumba are attached to the habit of consuming traditional medicines which are obtained from the knowledge inherited from their ancestors and are still maintained. Traditional medicine is still used by the people of Sumba because it can cure various diseases including diseases that are considered by the community because of witchcraft/witchcraft. The survival of traditional medicine is also due to information that is interwoven through interactions in the community. Seeking or sharing information through interactions that exist in the community makes knowledge from generation to generation about traditional medicine still survives today. The purpose of this research is to explore access to information that exists in the community regarding traditional medicine in Central Sumba Regency. The research method used is qualitative with an ethnographic approach, to explore access to information on scattered traditional medicine and local knowledge of the community regarding traditional medicine. Collecting data through in-depth interviews with four actors who know the practice of traditional medicine, namely fractured shamans, birth attendants, hamlet heads and village secretaries. Data collection was carried out in March - October 2021. The results showed that access to information on traditional medicine knowledge was spread through daily social interactions as well as in associations for traditional Sumbanese cultural events. Local knowledge is obtained from a trusted person, namely a dukun who is chosen through dream visions and the inner bond of the shaman's family. The knowledge of traditional medicinal ingredients used is a recipe passed down from generation to generation by the shaman's family. The ingredients are obtained from planted, purchased and also from nature which is believed that without being preserved by humans, nature always provides life. Various diseases can be cured, and also sick due to witchcraft.
