Abstract: | This study aims to examine the translation techniques used by the translator of the Indonesian version of Five Feet Apart in order to maintain the characterization of Stella as a survivor. Translation technique classification by Molina and Albir (2020) is used as the theoretical basis of this research. This research uses qualitative method that focuses on the quality of the characterization translation. The translation techniques found from this research are literal translation, calque, established equivalent, transposition, modulation, amplification, reduction, and borrowing. The results of this study show that most of the translations that are analyzed is accurate and Stella’s characterizations as a survivor are successfully maintained. However, three of the translations being analyzed are inaccurate and/or not successful to maintain Stella’s survivor characterization. |
