Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana tanggapan jemaat HKBP Semarang Barat terhadap Pendeta yang terjun ke dunia politik praktis dalam perspektif pemikiran Probowinoto. Probowinoto beranggapan bahwa pelayanan di bidang politik memiliki ruang yang lebih luas dikarenakan pelayannya tidak hanya terpaku kepada jemaat yang ada di lingkungan gereja saja, melainkan dapat melayani kepada seluruh warga bangsa atau manusia. Tanggung jawab mewujudkan kemuliaan Allah berlaku dalam segala aspek hidup termasuk politik. Karenanya keterlibatan pendeta dalam politik praktis berarti memperjuangkan hak manusia, bukan memperebutkan kekuasaan. Selaras dengan hal ini, warga jemaat HKBP Semarang Barat sebagian besar menyatakan setuju apabila pendeta jemaatnya terjun dalam kancah politik praktis. Hal ini didasarkan pada penghayatan bahwa aspek politik merupakan hal yang tak terpisahkan dari kehidupan berpelayanan yang sasarannya mewujudkan kebenaran, keadilan Allah yang mutlak demi kesejahteraan semua manusia tercakup di dalamnya warga jemaat sebagai bagian dari masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif untuk mendeskripsikan pemahaman jemaat tentang pendeta yang terjun ke dunia politik praktis melalui analisis pemikiran Probowinoto. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah wawancara yang melibatkan warga jemaat, para pelayan atau majelis jemaat dan beberapa pendeta yang pernah terlibat dalam kancah politik praktis.

ABSTRACT This study aims to find out how the West Semarang HKBP congregation responds to Pastors who enter the world of practical politics in the perspective of Probowinoto's thinking. Probowinoto thinks that the ministry in the political field has a wider space because the ministry is not only focused on the congregation in the church environment, but can serve all citizens of the nation or humans. The responsibility to realize the glory of God applies in all aspects of life, including politics. Therefore, the involvement of priests in practical politics means fighting for human rights, not fighting for power. In line with this, the members of the West Semarang HKBP congregation mostly agreed that the pastor of their congregation should be involved in practical politics. This is based on the appreciation that the political aspect is inseparable from the life of service whose goal is to realize the truth, absolute justice of God for the welfare of all human beings, which includes members of the congregation as part of society. This study uses qualitative research methods to describe the congregation's understanding of pastors who enter the world of practical politics through the analysis of Probowinoto's thoughts. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews involving members of the congregation, ministers or church councils and several pastors who had been involved in practical politics.
