Analisis Kompetensi Literasi Digital untuk Menghadapi Hoaks di Media Sosial (Studi Kasus Mahasiswa Fiskom Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana)

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang bagaimana kompetensi literasi digital mahasiswa Fiskom UKSW dalam menghadapi hoaks di media sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif eksplanatif. Dimana penelitian ini tidak hanya memberikan gambaran namun juga memberikan penjelasan terkait kompetensi literasi digital Mahasiswa FISKOM UKSW. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah sepuluh mahasiswa Fiskom UKSW. Penelitian ini menggunakan 6 aspek kompetensi literasi digital dari Japelidi (Jaringan Pegiat Literasi Digital). Penelitian ini dilakukan di kota Salatiga bersama dengan mahasiswa Fiskom UKSW yang telah mengikuti webinar literasi digital dari Kominfo pada periode Agustus-November 2021. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa mahasiswa Fiskom UKSW telah mampu melakukan kompetensi literasi digital dalam menghadapi hoaks di media sosial dimana kompetensi ini dimulai dari akses, seleksi, paham, analisis, verifikasi, evaluasi. Namun pada kompetensi verifikasi ditemukan tiga dari 10 informan belum pernah melakukan pelaporan, dua dari 10 tidak melakukan pelaporan, serta lima sudah melakukan pelaporan ketika menemukan informasi hoaks. Mereka tidak melaporkan dikarenakan mereka menganggap hal tersebut adalah sia-sia akibat terdapat beberapa berita hoaks yang belum ditindaklanjuti oleh pemerintah yang berwenang atas hal itu, selain itu ada juga yang sudah menjaga diri terlebih dahulu agar tidak mudah terprovokasi terkait berita hoaks. Selain itu juga dalam kompetensi evaluasi ditemukan satu dari 10 informan secara tidak sadar pernah terlibat dalam kasus penyebaran hoax di media sosial akibat kurangnya kecermatan dalam memverifikasi informasi yang sudah diterima.

This research discusses how the digital literacy competence of SWCU Fiskom students is in dealing with hoaxes on social media. This research uses qualitative research method with explanatory descriptive types. This research not only provides an overview but also provides an explanation regarding the digital literacy competence of SWCU FISKOM students. The informants in this study were ten SWCU Fiskom students. This study uses 6 aspects of digital literacy competence from Japelidi (Network of Digital Literacy Activists). This research was conducted in the city of Salatiga together with SWCU Fiskom students who had participated in a digital literacy webinar from Kominfo in the period August-November 2021. The results of this study found that SWCU Fiskom students had been able to perform digital literacy competencies in dealing with hoaxes on social media where this competency starting from access, selection, understanding, analysis, verification, evaluation. However, in the verification competence, it was found that three out of 10 informants had never reported, two out of 10 did not report, and five had reported when they found hoax information. They did not report it because they thought it was futile because there were some hoax news that had not been followed up by the government in charge of it, besides that there were also those who had taken care of themselves beforehand so they were not easily provoked by hoax news. In addition, in the competency evaluation, it was found that one in 10 informants had unknowingly been involved in cases of spreading hoaxes on social media due to a lack of accuracy in verifying the information that had been received.
