Abstract: | The development of modern technology has brought many changes in human life. For example, developments in telecommunications technology have made it unnecessary for humans to travel far just to convey the messages. The development of long distance technology is supported by the discovery of wireless communication systems, antenna is one of the important components in the wireless communication system. Microstrip antenna is example of antenna form that has several advantages, including having a small and lightweight size, as well as the shape of the irradiating elements that can be varied. In this final project, a microstrip antenna is designed using the printed monopole method on its ground plane. This antenna patch is ellipse shaped with EMA and EMB configurations that can work at frequencies 923-925 MHz (RFID Reader in Indonesia). The antenna is expected to work with a condition of return loss < -9.54 dB, has a bandwidth > 2 MHz, and produces a gain ofat least 2 dB. An inset feed is used in transmission line techniques so it is easily applied to microstrip antenna. The simulation used CST Studio Suite ver. 2018 as the software. The elliptical patch printed monopole antenna that has been fabricated can work at frequencies 923-925 MHz. Antenna test results with EMA configuration can produce return loss value = -43.912 dB, VSWR = 1.013, input impedance = 50.505 Ω + j4.930 mΩ, bandwidth of1.053 GHz, and gain = 6.41 dB. While the results ofantenna testing with EMB configuration can produce return loss = -32.409 dB, VSWR = 1.049, input impedance = 48.635 + j1.907 bandwidth, bandwidth of 584 MHz, and gain = 6.2 dB. Both of these configurations have an omnidirectional radiation pattern. |
