Climate change in the world has adversely affected the environmental sector in cities. Modernity due to the uncontrolled economic growth and the desire for technological progress have triggered environmental damage. This is based on the instrumental reasons for the needs of human progress. In addition, ecosystems, the movement of species, the genes and the flow of ecological processes are also important highlights in manifesting the environmental pillars in subregional areas. The Environmental Focus Area is acknowledged as an effort to address ecological issues. The Green City implementation strategy consists of three Green Attributes, namely the Green Waste, the Green Transport and the Green Water to potential cities such as Medan City in the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle subregion (IMT-GT). They are expected to build an environmentally friendly infrastructure as an effort to revitalize an uncontrolled economy. Therefore, it can carry out the ideals of subregional cooperation which is low carbon economy through sustainable city development and sustainable management of natural resources. |
