Analisis Indikasi Ketergantungan Anak Autisme terhadap New Media (Youtube)

Abstract

New media merupakan suatu alat komunikasi pada saat ini yang memanfaatkan teknologi internet. New media diakses secara dua arah, dari pemilik akun new media tersebut maupun audience yang dapat berinteraksi secara langsung di dalam platform bersangkutan. Youtube merupakan salah satu platfrom yang termasuk dalam new media. Youtube telah menjadi platform terbesar di antara new media lainnya, diminati dari semua kalangan usia mulai dari anak-anak hingga dewasa. Peneliti tertarik untuk meneliti adanya indikasi ketergantungan anak autisme terhadap youtube. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya suatu ketergantungan yang dihadapi oleh anak autisme ketika mereka menonton video yang berada di youtube serta indikasi apa sajakah yang menandakan adanya suatu ketergantungan. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dependency theory atau teori ketergantungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian metode deskriptif-eksploratif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dari ketiga narasumber yang diobservasi dan diwawancarai, dua diantaranya menunjukkan adanya suatu ketergantungan terhadap youtube. Adapun indikasi yang dapat mengukur adanya suatu ketergantungan tersebut dapat dilihat dari segi kehidupan sosial, pola komunikasi dengan orang lain, emosi, perilaku, serta berat-ringannya tingkat autisme anak.

New media is a present communication tool that uses internet technology. New media is accessed in two directions, from the new media account owner and the audience who can interact directly with the associated platform. YouTube is one of the platform that is included in new media. YouTube had turned to become the largest platform in comparison to other new media, that is demanded by individuals with age ranging from children to adults. The researcher is interested to discover if there is any dependency indicator of autistic children towards YouTube. The purpose of the research is to determine whether there is or not a dependency that is experienced by autistic children when they watch YouTube and what are the indicators that indicate a dependency. The theory that is used in this research is known as dependency theory. This research use qualitative method with the type of research method used is descriptive explorative. The result from the research indicated that of the three sources observed and interviewed, two of the sources indicated a dependency on YouTube. The indicators that can measure a dependency can be seen in terms of social life, way of communication with other people, emotions, behaviours, and the child’s autism level.
