External factors such as influence from friends, seeing advertisements, environment and family. Internal factors such as the desire of oneself. This quantitative-correlational study aims to determine the relationship between peer conformity and smoking behavior among SWCU Salatiga students. The participants were 60 SWCU students who were obtained through an accidental sampling technique. The research instrument used the peer conformity scale modified by Gandhi based on the theory of Mehrabian and Stefl and the Smoking Behavior Scale from Glover and Nilson translated by Safitri et al. Data analysis used Pearson Correlation and the results showed a correlation coefficient of 0.98 with a significant value of 0.228 (p>0.05), which means there is no relationship between peer conformity and student smoking behavior. |
