2016) dan Ryff’s Scale Psychological Well-Being (Ryff, 1989).
Parents definitely want to give the best for their children. The choice of helicopter parenting for children intends to protect and take care of children from failure and problems. However, parents do not realize that it will backfire on them and cause the children to feel low in self-esteem, timidity, inability to make decisions, and lack of problem-solving skills. Considering that parenting is very influential on the psychological well-being of children. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between helicopter parenting and psychological well-being on overseas students in Salatiga. The method used in this research is correlational design quantitative methods. Thus, this research used 150 samples from the age range between 18-22 years old by incidental sampling techniques. Helicopter Parenting Scale (Luebbe, dkk. 2016) as well as Ryff’s Scale Psychological Well-Being (Ryff, 1989) for the data collection. The result of this study found, there is no negative significant relationship between helicopter parenting and psychological well-being in overseas students in Salatiga (Rxy = 0,130 and sig. = 0,056). Moreover, the analysis of this study argues that cultural differences from various regions are one of the factors causing the absence no relationship between parenting and psychological well-being in partisans.
