Abstract: | To translate literary work translators need a strategy. The strategies are technique, method, strategy, and procedure. And for this study, the researcher analyzes what are the techniques the translator use. For the thesis, the researcher chooses a topic that has been taken in the research method class. The study is focused on the translation of the dialogues of The Ant and the Grasshopper, The Greedy Mouse, and Friends. The researcher chooses dialog for the study to analyze the dialog, especially the dialogues are from kids' short stories. And because these are for kids the researcher aims to know what techniques that been use by the translator, so that the kids would understand the dialogue or the story. The subject is analyzing the translation of short stories from Indonesian into English, by taking 3 short stories, The Ant and the Grasshopper, The Greedy Mouse, and Friends. The theory in this story is Translation Technical Procedures in the Compared Stylistics in the Molina Albir article. The data of this study are all words and sentences in the dialog of the novel. The method of this research is analyzing and to collect the data the writer has several steps they are reading, identifying, and classifying. The result of the study there is 13 dialogs which are included in the translation technique based on Molina Albir article. Those techniques are Literal Translation, Variation, Compensation, Calque, and Generalization, Established Equivalence, and the last result is Reduction. But in these three stories, the technique most often used by the translator is a literal translation. |
