Pelayanan Pastoral BNKP dalam Konteks Perubahan Sosial Pasca Gempa Bumi 28 Maret 2005 di Nias

Abstract

Earthquake with magnitude 8,7 on Richter scale struck Nias on March 28, 2005. The earthquake had been impacting the whole life of people in Nias, both on the human life and on the natural resources. It had been creating the deep suffering to the people physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. It had been creating the psychosocial trauma to the people of Nias as well as ecolife system trauma. The earthquake then invited condolence and global solidarity of many, many nations and NGOs coming for help and relief. The efforts of NGOs to relief Nias are really appreciated. There are many changes in Nias, such as new buildings and infrastructures, as well as the changes on economy aspect. In another side, it had been creating the new negative changes, new social pathology. In such context of social change or new dynamic, the church of BNKP as a biggest denomination in Nias is ministering to. This research is meant to describe the pastoral ministry developed and implemented by BNKP in Nias during and post-earthquake. Theoretically it is expected that this research could give the contribution on the development of pastoral theology in connection with the issues raised up during the eathquake and postearthquake; and practically it is expected that the results of this research could help the church, particularly BNKP to develop an effective pastoral ministry in the society facing the suffering as well as new social change. To reach out the goal of this research, I applied the qualitative approach with field research method. In doing this field research I utilized the observation, in-depth interview, documentary and library study.
