Abstract: Seeing the riots in Indonesia raises claims and questions about education, especially religious education in addressing diversity. The weakness and helplessness of the education system in Indonesia, due to the existence of religious education that has almost no room for discussion on how to build relationships related to justice towards adherents of different religions. Religious education still dwells on its own religious perspective, or it can be said that it is still monoreligious so that it tends to be shackled to the dominance of theological ego doctrine and gives birth to an attitude of religious exclusivism, intolerance, claiming the sole truth, seeing other parties as inferior, and discrediting communities that are not adhered to. Powerlessness in the religious education system is naturally questioned and challenged, when pluralism is not respected so that pluralism becomes threatened and torn apart. Responding to the problem of the powerlessness and weakness of religious education in addressing pluralism, SMA BOPKRI 1 Yogyakarta is presenting a new model in the learning process that refers to the values of the common good through religious teachings and experiences and contributes to humanitarian issues. SMA BOPKRI 1 Yogyakarta starts early to seek awareness and foster a transformative-pluralist inclusive attitude for students. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. This paper refers to three major sections. The first part explains the nature of education and the paradigm of interreligious education, especially interreligious education according to Judith Berling. In the second part, the participants' responses to interreligious education in religious education at SMA BOPKRI 1 Yogyakarta are explained. The third part analyzes and discusses interreligious education in SMA BOPKRI 1 Yogyakarta.
Melihat kerusuhan di Indonesia menimbulkan gugatan dan pertanyaan terhadap pendidikan terkhususnya pendidikan agama dalam menyikapi keberagaman. Kelemahan dan ketidakberdayaan sistem pendidikan di Indonesia, disebabkan adanya pendidikan agama yang hampir tidak ada ruang bagi pembahasan tentang bagaimana membangun relasi yang berkaitan dengan berkeadilan terhadap penganut agama yang berbeda. Pendidikan agama masih berkutat pada perspektif agamanya sendiri, atau dapat dikatakan masih bersifat monoreligius sehingga cenderung dengan keterbelengguan pada dominasi ego teologis doktrin dan melahirkan sikap eksklusivisme agama, intoleran, mengklaim kebenaran tunggal, memandang pihak lain lebih rendah, serta mendiskreditkan komunitas yang diluar dianutnya. Ketidakberdayaan dalam sistem pendidikan agama wajar dipertanyakan serta digugat, ketika pluralisme tidak dihargai sehingga pluralisme menjadi terancam dan terkoyak-koyak. Menanggapi permasalahan terhadap ketidakberdayaan dan kelemahan pendidikan agama dalam menyikapi pluralisme, maka SMA BOPKRI 1 Yogyakarta sedang menyajikan model baru dalam proses pembelajaran yang mengacu pada nilai-nilai kebaikan bersama melalui ajaran agama dan pengalaman serta memberikan kontribusi terhadap permasalahan kemanusiaan. SMA BOPKRI 1 Yogyakarta mulai sejak dini mengupayakan kesadaran dan menumbuhkan sikap inklusif transformatif-pluralis bagi peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Tulisan ini mengacu terdiri atas tiga bagian besar. Di bagian pertama dijelaskan hakikat pendidikan dan paradigma pendidikan interreligius, terkhususnya interreligious education menurut Judith Berling. Di bagian kedua dijelaskan respon partisipan terhadap pendidikan interreligius dalam pendidikan agama di SMA BOPKRI 1 Yogyakarta. Di bagian ketiga analisis dan pembahasan pendidikan interreligius di SMA BOPKRI 1 Yogyakarta.
