Abstract: By focusing on the use of video conferencing applications as an online teaching medium during the COVID-19 pandemic, this study aims to investigate the problems of EFL teachers face in teaching young learners in the online environment. By utilizing a qualitative approach with the descriptive method, the data for this study was gathered through interviews and observation sessions. This study involved 5 English teachers from various private schools across Indonesia as the research participants. This study found the EFL teachers encountered several problems in teaching primary students online using video conferencing applications, which included internet connection, more time and effort in the preparation, handling the students, and checking students’ understanding. On that account, the EFL teachers’ strategies to cope with the problems were better supporting facilities, using various techniques to engage students, maintaining disciplines during online sessions, and implementing hybrid learning activities.
