Pengaruh Penerapan PSAK 71 dan Kualita Audit terhadap Manajemen Laba

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of applying PSAK 71 and audit quality on earnings management during the Covid-19 crisis in Indonesia. The results of the study provide evidence of the impact of applying accounting standards, particularly financial instruments and audit quality, on earnings. 58 banks were selected as samples using purposive sampling with conventional commercial bank criteria based on OJK classification for 2020. The independent variables tested were the application of PSAK 71 and audit quality to the dependent variable earnings management. Firm size, leverage, and capital adequacy are used as control variables for earnings management. The multiple linear regression analysis techniques in SPSS 20 are used as a test tool for the research model. The results showed that there was a significant positive effect on the application of PSAK 71 on earnings management in the banking industry during the Covid-19 crisis. Whereas audit quality did not have a significant effect on earnings management. Company size do not affect earnings management, on the contrary, capital adequacy and leverage affects earnings management during the covid-19 crisis. Future research is expected to consider account classification as impact of implementing PSAK 71, use other models to measured discretionary accruals, use data on an international scale, use audit services and audit fees during the Covid-19 crisis as proxies for audit quality.
