Jumlah sampel sebanyak 40 responden. Artinya semakin tinggi pola asuh otoriter maka semakin rendah pengendalian diri pada remaja, sebaliknya semakin rendah pola asuh otoriter maka semakin tinggi pengendalian diri remaja. Self-control is an ability that adolescents have about themselves including trust and behavioral tendencies. Self-control is important because it can affect individuals in socializing. One of the causes that can affect self-control is the family environment, especially parenting. Authoritarian parenting is parenting that emphasizes the formation of the character of adolescents, which sets definite rules that must be followed by adolescents. This study aims to determine the relationship between authoritarian parenting and self-control in adolescents whose parents have military backgrounds. This research was conducted with a quantitative approach with correlational methods. The measuring tool for this study used a questionnaire on parenting theory developed by Buri and self-control by Tagney. The number of samples is 40 respondents. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique with the respondent's criteria 1) a group of late adolescents aged 17-25 years 2) having parents with military profession 3) experiencing authoritarian parenting 4) domiciled in Salatiga. Analysis using Pearson Product Moment results of this study showed p = 0.000. This indicates that there is a significant negative relationship between authoritarian parenting and adolescent self-control. This means that the higher the authoritarian parenting style, the lower the adolescent's self-control, conversely the lower the authoritarian parenting pattern, the higher the adolescent's self-control. |
