Title: The Effects of Opportunity to Respond on Students’ Academic Performance and Social Behavior (artikel Hasil Pemikiran)
Authors: Wahyana, Antonius
Issue Date: 2023
Abstract: Educational research has shown the positive effects of increased opportunity to respond (OTR) on both the academic and social behavior of individuals of all ages and in a variety of different content areas. Although many research findings have demonstrated the positive effects of OTR on both the student’s academic achievement and social behavior, many teachers rarely use these practices. Based on the research findings reviewed above, it is high time for teachers including English language teachers to optimize OTR in their teaching and learning process and/or activities in order to make their students learn more. Teaching-learning processes and/or activities which do not provide students with OTR or only a few opportunities to respond will make them passively participate and this condition will result in poor instruction.
