Stunting is becoming a problem of child nutrition and development in Indonesia. The stunting rate in children under five in Indonesia is high, which is 24.4%, far from the target of reducing stunting prevalence in Indonesia in 2024, which is down to 14%. Many studies link stunting with maternal factors, because the mother is the determinant of the availability of intake and health care for children. The study aims to analyze the determinants of stunting by examining maternal factors. The research design is case control with case and control groups. The study population was toddlers aged 24-60 months in the Karanggede Health Center service area. The minimum number of study samples is 30 samples per control group and case group. The study will be conducted from August to October 2023. Data analysis used the Mann Whitney non-parametric statistical test to prove the difference between the case group and the control group. The results of the study of maternal factors were significantly different in the case and control groups: maternal TB (p = 0.018), maternal education (p = 0.000) and maternal LiLA during pregnancy (p = 0.039). While the variables that did not differ significantly were the age of the mother when married, the age of the mother when pregnant, the mother's occupation, and the nutritional status of the mother. From these results, it can be concluded that maternal factors have an role in the incidence of stunting in the Karanggede Health Center service area.
